The Coming to Fullness

many years i’ve waited now
learning about the life i lead
knowing soon would come the fullness
understanding wisdom’s seed

lives ago i learned the lessons
taught by living all the ‘wheres’
now i grok the end of waiting
i stand atop this flight of stairs

shall i shout it from the rooftops
as did christ so long ago
or shall i teach it in the meadow
where the buddha once did glow

or shall i look with inner vision
at the world around me now
and keep my learning all within me
here i must myself avow

i’ll whisper truth in dankest gutter
leave a trace where few shall look
goad on those i see are hungry
but ne’er shall i a great feast cook

there are those who know the answer
spread across this world so vast
if one teach two we’re thrice as many
patience! till we are the last

A man with a lot of strange experiences in my life. Haven't traveled that much per se, but have lived in a lot of different areas. English is the only language I have mastered, and the older I get, the more of it lose. Seniorhood gives me more time to self-reflect, but since time seems to go much faster, it feels like I don't have as much time for living as my younger selves did. I believe in spiritual atheism and responsible anarchy. These do not have to be oxymorons. Imagination is an incredible tool.

  1. Well done RG. I hope you decide to continue sharing. I have some thoughts on consciousness and physics that intertwine with your ideas I would like to use to refute. Lol. Really though, some of your thoughts are verifiable with scientific observations, and all we’ve done so far is get coffee!

    1. Go for it, Jim, and give it your best shot. I try to have an open mind, but at 68 open could still mean calcified. Thhe object id to look at all info, and see what fits. At the very leasr, you challenge me, as I said before. And challenges keep my mind active. Thank you.

      1. I think you may be on to something scientifically speaking. Quantum physics has “the measurement problem” that appears without consciousness, there is no viewing the quantum realms. Things only come into view only when there is a conscious observer, alluding to the fact that without our consciousness, there is nothing of an organized world. Take away consciousness and you take away matter. Very bizarre. I thought you might like to know that. I can’t say there is consciousness outside of us, but it appears that without it there is no physical world or universe at all. There is more to it, but quite interesting physics is in the process of wiping out 40 years because nothing adds up if we’re not watching. There is no current equation to include the observer, which one automatically becomes a integral of the equation just by looking. We are part of a totally conscious universe according to this direction.

        1. Even when the camera recording when no consciousness is available cannot be confirmed without an observer looking at what the camera recorded, no matter how much later. This is obvious to me, through my own consciousness. Not even matter matters without consciousness.
But then, jumping to the other side of that coin, the defence sees something completely different from the prosecution when looking at the recording of the scene of the crime. So not even observation can be trusted, when there is more than one observer. That why I say “Reality is relative.” For some reasons most scientists ignore me, lol.

  2. From what I’ve been studying lately, consciousness is LIFE and consciousness exists outside of life as well. I would lean that the force that is directing genotypes and DNA which we share prolifically with many many life forms is directing our chemistry to become a specific animal or bug or person due to the specific level of conscious awareness that resides as a potential, waiting in part of the universe that is made from consciousness and awareness.

    1. I must be tired, Jim, I’m not catching everything you are saying. When you say consciousness is LIFE (I kinda agree) and consciousness is outside of life as well (I kinda disagree) but are my thoughts equal or unequal? I’m not sure, they could be, though they sound different.
I lean the other way though, but I am not an empirist or a biologian. I am a philosopher and idea person. I don’t know enough about DNA, or how it has changed in people from the hominid stage to the homo sapien stage, so anything is possible, but!
Meanwhilke, I see consciousness as a matter of a group mind situation, where the minds of all the cells of our bodies are multiplied in power by the number of cells available in the body, but this only guarantees consciousness, or a facsimile thereof, while spiritual consciousness is more linked to the connections of all our spirits. However, I am not going as far as a “universal group mind,” because that would suggest everyone at the same level of consciousness, which is clearly not the case. Contrast Trump, Hitler, Attila, etc with Ghandi, Biko, King, jr. etc. Nothing can put those six men in one group mind.* (Sorry, ladies, I couldn’t think of any female examples offhand.)
I will not say anything absolutely (well, almost nothing*), but I do not see any established connection between consciousness (spirituality) and chemistry. If consciousness is chemical, then my brain today is almost disconnected to the brain I was born with. Not to say this boastfully, but that boy’s brain was a molecule, if not an atom; my brain is a universe. The corallary to that would be, no matter the level of consciousness, chemistry would supercede purpose. I don’t like that concept, lol.

  3. Something directs the physical genetic development. I’m suggesting that consciousness is the director, not as a group but a conscious universe of endless possibilities has focused on this point in the cosmos because it is habitable for life. Without a habitable planet these would be elsewhere. The fact that the world can support life may have attracted a large number of sentient entities that direct the development of the genetic code, not by choice, but life happens when the two are combined

    1. Possible. But because we are way out on the edge of the galaxy, there is less reason to be so visited compared to being in the center of the galaxy. Just a thought. Things we can never know for sure.
But for me chaos directs evolution. Try this, Doesn’t work. Try that.
Sppiritual evolution directs our consciousnesses, though “directs” is a horrible word for me. The past predicts the future, but everything up to now is formed in chaos. Sentience is the fight to conquer chaos. It will not be an easy battle. We are fighting without a leader. But then, so is chaos. We woll have to have a discussion about this sometime in the future. Please.
